Lindy Hop, the wild spacious dance, was totally unsuitable for crowded dance floors and faaaaaaaast music - be it you are a member of Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers. You don’t know them? A must for all swing dancers is their breath taking performance in the legendary movie “Hellzapoppin”. Balboa was the dance you could easily dance to 190 to 250 bpm. The upper bodies tight, footwork was important. Whereas in pure bal(boa) you hold the bodies tight all the time, in bal-swing you can incorporate spins, slides and other swing dance moves into your dancing. Balboa originated 1936 in USA in the Rendezvous Ballroom on Balboa Island in Newport Beach,CA.
