Shag (Carolina Shag, St. Louis Shag, Arthur Murray = Collegiate Shag) is mostly like the Balboa a fast music dance (120 bpm). It consists on mirror moves and normal lead and follow figures. Try it out: Get into close position and go: ||: step- hop- step-hop -run- run : ||. In the 40ies Shag was the dance especially among youngsters. They like to dance it on warm summer nights at the beach. A cool drink in one hand, a girl’s hand in the other… In southern USA Shag still has the reputation of beeing the ultimate swing dance.
